Publishing, Direct Selling & IT Applications In Database Publishing

The year of achievements in Concept Marketing. This was the year when he conceptualized the Yellow Pages concept for the Indian Market for the first time. The publication’s First Edition was christened “New Delhi Yellow Pages” and later changed to “ABI Yellow Pages”. He ensured that this was different in every way. He made this as India’s first structured and totally computer generated Yellow Pages. The success paved the way for other successful ventures. The popularity and expertise gained from this project allowed the company’s entry into Department of Telecommunication sponsored Yellow Pages projects. Dpertmenr of Telecommunication awarded the contract for few cities for producing official Yellow Pages to be bound distributed with their White Pages Telephone Directory. Jaipur Telephone Directory with Rajasthan Yellow Pages and Indore Telephone Directory with MP Yellow Pages, to name a few, were few official DoT, Government of India projects that he got for the company.

2. 1993 – 1997

Manufacturing of Electronics, IT & OEM / ODM Supplies

His penchant for newer products and businesses made him the leader in IT industry. He became the first importer, manufacturer and distributor of Electronic Rechargeable Emergency Lights. He brought in OEM supplies contracts, Set Up an Assembly Unit in Kala Amb, Himachal Pradesh, Assembled the Emergency Lights.

He developed an effective and efficient distribution system for the PC-AT Computer Systems under the company brand name of “ABION”. He was also the first master importer of Computers into India and was instrumental in developing Asia’s biggest computer market. He was also the first to manufacture motherboards in India. He also introduced the OEM concepts in this trade and set up the assembly unit in Himachal Pradesh, to make the computer systems cost-effective and to resolve warranty issues effectively and quickly.

He initiated the successful All-India sales and marketing for the products range. See-through Land Line Phones, Cordless Telephones, and Two-line Phones under the brand name, “Star”, an OEM of IXL Limited (A Dalmia Group Company) were manufactured under the new Himachal Pradesh facilities.

These made the company the most dependable OEM supplier of IT products. HCL, WIPRO, PCL, Data General, Altos, Zenith, ICCIM, PCS Data General were some of the corporate clients who were the superior quality product beneficiaries of the company activities. This also boosted the company image, turnover, profitability and brand equity in the domestic and overseas markets.

3. 1997 – 2000

Interactive Educational Course Software / Test Preparation Tools & Mass Market CD-ROM Products

As the activities progressed against a planned, well defined and auto-work system, he diversified into other areas of IT products, services and solutions. He produced Educational Digital Software (CD-ROMs) on Astrology, GRE, GMAT, TOEFEL, SAT, LSAT and other such overseas market-based knowledge proficiency testing system tools. These became successful products and captured both Indian and overseas markets.

Export of these products to USA and South East Asian countries and developed strong commercial relationship with mega chain store conglomerates such as Wall Mart and K Mart. This also helped the company penetrate newer domestic and overseas markets, source new technology products and solutions that increased brand equity and profitability.

2000 – 2002

Market Application Software Development, Portals/Vortals, Comprehensive Web Solutions & IT Project Consultancy

He ventured the company into IT Project Consultancy and bagged the contract of Kerala State Industrial Investment and Development Corporation to set up the State’s first IT park with State’s equity participation. He also set up the Software Development Division for the company to pursue his technical interests and initiatives.

He has been instrumental in introducing and developing new mass application web and software solutions addressed to wide variety of market segments. The master portals and vortals, Booksbank.com addressed to the global book industry and abiyp.com (abiyellowpages.com) addressed to every segment of the business are proof of his acumen and trade and technological knowledge. To ensure expansion, business continuity, diversification and capitalization of micro subject markets other search engine master portals, spousematch.com, autodriveway.com, indiancinema.com and imagebank.com were developed to work within the master portals.
